Game types

1) Hidden objective

Each player has a hidden objective, different from the others.

Possible objectives are:
Counties: Yellow and Brown
Counties: Yellow and Purple
Counties: Green and Pink
Counties: Green and Brown
Counties: Light Blue, Pink plus one of your choice
Counties: Light Blue, Purple plus one of your choice
Conquer 24 Farms
Occupy 18 Farms with at least 2 Piglets each (4+ players only)
Eliminate another player's piglets (*)

2) Trench: capture 3 counties

All players share the same objective: conquer 3 counties.

3) Splatter!

Free-for-all! Each player must eliminate one of the participating players (*)
At the start of the game, all objectives are different.

(*) In Splatter games: if a player's objective is to eliminate another player's piglets but fails because that player is eliminated by Mr. Pig, their new objective becomes eliminating Mr. Pig's piglets.
In Hidden Objective games, the new objective instead becomes "Conquer 24 Farms".

Maximum number of simultaneous games

There is a limit to the number of games you can join at the same time: 4.
Even after reaching this limit, you can still participate in the two tournaments and the championship, up to a maximum of 8 active games.
Supporter services allow you to increase your personal limit.

Timeout, Force Turn, Expiration

For each game you can choose the Timeout, which is the amount of time players have to complete their turn.

The minimum timeout is 24 hours. To play live "real-time" games, simply arrange with other players who are willing to spend a few hours on Netpigs.

Force Turn

Once this time limit has expired, the other players can unblock (unstick) the game by skipping the turn of the player who is holding it up.
If a player is skipped twice, they lose the right to be waited for, and the other players may eliminate them from the game (their pigs remain on the board, but their turns will be skipped automatically).

If a player blocks the game during the initial placement phase, the Force Turn option becomes Cancel Game. This is because it would make little sense to start a match before everyone has placed their starting pigs.

Expiration

Six months after a game starts, it becomes unranked (expired game). The match continues normally, but no longer affects the rankings.

Game options

Weekend off: you cannot lose your turn from Saturday until Monday evening.

Hope: players always receive at least 1 reinforcement at the start of their turn, even if they control fewer than 3 Farms.

Vacation mode: players on vacation cannot be forced. Every player has 20 vacation days per calendar year, which can be activated from the Preferences page.

No Single Pig Rule: you may never leave a Farm with only 1 piglet unless it is surrounded by friendly Farms, or if that Farm has just been conquered with an attack made using 3 piglets from a Farm that had 4 (or 2/3 or 1/2).
In addition, if you leave a Farm with 1 piglet after moving units, and that Farm is later conquered, the attacker must occupy it with at least 2 piglets.

White peace

If all players still in the game (eliminated or resigned players are excluded) offer White Peace, the game is immediately deleted without leaving any trace in the rankings or statistics.
Players who offer White Peace may continue playing normally and can withdraw the offer at any time.

Resign

Sometimes, for one reason or another, it becomes necessary to leave a game without blocking it or causing automatic eliminations.
If you resign using the dedicated option, the other players can continue and finish the game normally: your piglets remain in play, but your turns are skipped.

Turn limit

You can set a maximum number of turns for a game. Once this limit has been reached, there is a 30% chance that the game will end at the end of each player's turn, with a winner determined automatically. The winner is chosen, in order, by who would:
- place the most piglets at the start of the next turn
- control the most counties
- control the most territories
- have the most piglets
- have the most cards

This mechanism removes the advantage of being the last player to take a turn.

A player who has been eliminated, timed out, or resigned can still win automatically if they meet the required criteria. They may also advance in tournaments that allow qualification on points.

Game archive

Finished games are deleted after 1 week.
Games waiting to start are deleted after 1 month.
Inactive games (where nobody takes any action) are deleted after 2 months.
After 6 months of play, games become unranked.
